The Grand Tour - Day 2

Today we travelled  about 380 miles.  We saw more emergency vehicles travelling in the opposite direction on the motorway than in an episode of bad Casualty but didn't find out why on the news.

I had my first experience of driving in Germany today on a two-lane Autobahn where cars were passing and leaving us standing even though I was doing 80 mph.  Unnerved at first, I soon got to grips with it and we certainly got where we were going quickly.

My biggest excitement en route was in the German motorway service station where I nearly squealed the first time I flushed as a blue spout emerged from the back of the toilet and the entire seat revolved and was cleaned.  I videoed the second time..  Meanwhile, Frogge found that the vending machine in the male toilets offered a Reisepussy (travel pussy), so excitement all round!

Yesterday the high temperature was 16 degrees Celsius in Chalons and today it was 22 which is pleasantly warm, and on arrival at the hotel in Memmingen (southern Bavaria) at around 4pm we were able to sit outside and have a weissebier.  However, apparently one shouldn't given one's husband a spit-wash in public in a town where he might know people.  Sorry Frogge :(

“Steuerhaus” (tax house) in the market square

The hotel is lovely and is right in the middle of the town so we had a quick stroll round before meeting up with our friends Micky and Manfred for a very enjoyable dinner.

Frogge has been here many times before and tomorrow he will show me all the sights.
